Mitra Tyler Dewar:
The Synergy of Insight and Compassion
Active exploration into the deeper nature of things and exposing
the tenderness of our hearts go hand in hand. Rather than asking us
to choose between taking a heartfelt approach or valuing
intellectual curiosity, the teachings from Buddhism's philosophical
tradition use analysis to grow our love further and compassion to
deepen our insight into interdependence.
About Mitra Tyler Dewar:
Tyler Dewar is a Buddhist teacher in the Nalandabodhi community. An experienced oral interpreter and literary translator of Tibetan, he was appointed as a senior Nalandabodhi teacher in 2005 by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche and received the title Mitra, or "spiritual friend." He has written for Buddhadharma magazine and published two volumes of translation, Trainings in Compassion (2004) and The Karmapa's Middle Way (2008) with Snow Lion Publications. A faculty member of Nitartha Institute since 2003, he is currently working on several translation projects and teaches regularly throughout North America.
